Superconducting Undulator at ANSTO BioSAXS Beamline produced first light!

11/29/2022

With the installation of a customised superconducting undulator Bilfinger Noell delivered the key piece for the BioSAXS Beamline at the Australian Synchrotron as part of their BRIGHT project. It produced its first light during the acceptance tests at ANSTO’s Clayton facility.

The design of the device was developed and optimized for the needs of the customer. The Biological Small Angle X-ray Scattering beamline will be optimised for measuring small angle scattering of surfactants, nanoparticles, polymers, lipids, proteins and other biological macromolecules in solution. The technology is ready for use in Light Sources worldwide and currently being adapted for Free Electron Lasers (FEL).
